The authors theme is exciting and you just cant put the book down, it is in the middle of a love story and a scary story. It is about a girl named Bella and a guy named Edward and they meat in high school and they start to like each other. But soon Bella finds out that Edward is a vampire. But she doesn't care if he is a bloodsucking monster, because they love each other equally.
Why should you care about the problem?
The problem in the book is it is Bella's birthday and Edward asks her if he could take her to his house so that the rest of his family could wish her a happy birthday. So she goes and has a good time until it is time to open her presents. So as she is opening her present she gets a paper cut and starts to bleed. (remember she is in a house full of vampires) Edward pushes Bella across the table so none of his family can get to her but she crashes into some glass and then her whole arm starts to bleed. Carlisle, (Edward's dad who is a doctor and is used to the sight of blood) comes to the rescue and cleans Bella up. But after that Edward didn't talk to her much. So one day Edward and Bella go out to the woods to talk and Edward says that him and his family are leaving and that he has caused Bella enough trouble. After that Bella was a mess and she didn't socialise with anyone for four months. Finally after four months she starts hanging out with a guy 2 years younger than her named Jacob, and she seems to feel a little bit better. But then she realises that he is a wolf and that his job is to hunt vampires and to kill them. I really care about this problem because it would be really bad if Jacob met Edward.
How would you explain this to a 3rd grader?
"My book is about a vampire, but not a bad vampire, a good vampire. One who is a vegetarian, which means that that vampire doesn't drink human blood, he drinks animal blood. The vampire's name is Edward and he really loves this girl named Bella. But then Edward has to leave and Bella is so shocked that she doesn't talk to anybody and doesn't do anything for four months. But then , after four months she meets this guy named Jacob and she really likes him. So she starts doing a lot of things with him. Until one day he stars turning into a wolf. But not the kind of wolf you here in scary stories, the kind of wolf that protects you from vampires who want to such your blood. So that means that Jacob really hates vampires and could actually kill a vampire. That would be a pretty bad thing if Edward and Jacob met."
How does the information in the problem help you develop strategies to help solve the problem?
The information in the problem indicates that Edward and Jacob cant be near or else Jacob could loose his temper and kill Edward. So that means that all Edward and Jacob need to do is to not get near to each other. But that would mean that Bella would never see Jacob because she would spend all her time with Edward. Well that is easy because then she could spend her morning with Jacob and then she could spend her afternoon with Edward.
What has already been proven?
- Jacob is a wolf
- Edward is a vampire
- Jacob is a vampire killer
- Edward couldnt stand a chance against Jacob
- Edward and Jacob are competitive against each other because they both like Bella
Can you prove it? How?
- I can prove that Jacob is a wolf because every time he has a temper he turns into one, and sometimes when he is mad at something he growls.
- I can prove that he is able to kill a vampire because one time when Bella went hiking a vampire wanted to suck her blood but when he was about to, Jacob came and killed him.
What would this piece inspire you to read in the future?
New Moon is the name of my book. It is actually part of a series. First it was a book called Twilight, then it was New Moon, then after that it was Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. So New Moon has inspired me to read Eclipse and i cant wait till I get the book and start reading it.
How did this event affect the events that happend after it?
One day Bella was very bored so she decided to go cliff diving. But as she was cliff diving one of Edwards sisters named Alice could see the future and saw her jumping off the cliff. But as Alice saw her jumping off the cliff she didnt see bella cumbing up out of the water for air. So all that came to mind to her was that Bella killed herself. So she told her sister Rosalie, and Rosalie told Edward, and Edward was about to kill himeself, but luckily he didnt.
What would happen if you changed one of the elements?
If Rosalie didnt tell Edward then
- There wouldnt be so much drama
- Edward wouldnt have tried to kill himeself
What could have changed this piece?
I think it coud have been a little bit more exciting like in the middle of the book, like right when Edward leaves Bella it should be at least a bit less lame.
