Book Review #3

What is the authors theme?

The authors theme is exciting and you just cant put the book down, it is in the middle of a love story and a scary story. It is about a girl named Bella and a guy named Edward and they meat in high school and they start to like each other. But soon Bella finds out that Edward is a vampire. But she doesn't care if he is a bloodsucking monster, because they love each other equally.

Why should you care about the problem?

The problem in the book is it is Bella's birthday and Edward asks her if he could take her to his house so that the rest of his family could wish her a happy birthday. So she goes and has a good time until it is time to open her presents. So as she is opening her present she gets a paper cut and starts to bleed. (remember she is in a house full of vampires) Edward pushes Bella across the table so none of his family can get to her but she crashes into some glass and then her whole arm starts to bleed. Carlisle, (Edward's dad who is a doctor and is used to the sight of blood) comes to the rescue and cleans Bella up. But after that Edward didn't talk to her much. So one day Edward and Bella go out to the woods to talk and Edward says that him and his family are leaving and that he has caused Bella enough trouble. After that Bella was a mess and she didn't socialise with anyone for four months. Finally after four months she starts hanging out with a guy 2 years younger than her named Jacob, and she seems to feel a little bit better. But then she realises that he is a wolf and that his job is to hunt vampires and to kill them. I really care about this problem because it would be really bad if Jacob met Edward.

How would you explain this to a 3rd grader?

"My book is about a vampire, but not a bad vampire, a good vampire. One who is a vegetarian, which means that that vampire doesn't drink human blood, he drinks animal blood. The vampire's name is Edward and he really loves this girl named Bella. But then Edward has to leave and Bella is so shocked that she doesn't talk to anybody and doesn't do anything for four months. But then , after four months she meets this guy named Jacob and she really likes him. So she starts doing a lot of things with him. Until one day he stars turning into a wolf. But not the kind of wolf you here in scary stories, the kind of wolf that protects you from vampires who want to such your blood. So that means that Jacob really hates vampires and could actually kill a vampire. That would be a pretty bad thing if Edward and Jacob met."

How does the information in the problem help you develop strategies to help solve the problem?

The information in the problem indicates that Edward and Jacob cant be near or else Jacob could loose his temper and kill Edward. So that means that all Edward and Jacob need to do is to not get near to each other. But that would mean that Bella would never see Jacob because she would spend all her time with Edward. Well that is easy because then she could spend her morning with Jacob and then she could spend her afternoon with Edward.

What has already been proven?

  • Jacob is a wolf
  • Edward is a vampire
  • Jacob is a vampire killer
  • Edward couldnt stand a chance against Jacob
  • Edward and Jacob are competitive against each other because they both like Bella

Can you prove it? How?

  1. I can prove that Jacob is a wolf because every time he has a temper he turns into one, and sometimes when he is mad at something he growls.
  2. I can prove that he is able to kill a vampire because one time when Bella went hiking a vampire wanted to suck her blood but when he was about to, Jacob came and killed him.

What would this piece inspire you to read in the future?

New Moon is the name of my book. It is actually part of a series. First it was a book called Twilight, then it was New Moon, then after that it was Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. So New Moon has inspired me to read Eclipse and i cant wait till I get the book and start reading it.

How did this event affect the events that happend after it?

One day Bella was very bored so she decided to go cliff diving. But as she was cliff diving one of Edwards sisters named Alice could see the future and saw her jumping off the cliff. But as Alice saw her jumping off the cliff she didnt see bella cumbing up out of the water for air. So all that came to mind to her was that Bella killed herself. So she told her sister Rosalie, and Rosalie told Edward, and Edward was about to kill himeself, but luckily he didnt.

What would happen if you changed one of the elements?

If Rosalie didnt tell Edward then

  1. There wouldnt be so much drama
  2. Edward wouldnt have tried to kill himeself

What could have changed this piece?

I think it coud have been a little bit more exciting like in the middle of the book, like right when Edward leaves Bella it should be at least a bit less lame.

Book Review #2

What is the author’s theme?

The name of my book is Twilight. I think the theme of the book is exciting, and kind of funny and scary. Also, a little bit fiction. If you like, books that are exciting and that you cannot put down, this is a very good book for you.

Why should you care about this situation?

One of the situations in the book that is a big situation is, there is a boy named Edward and he just met this girl named Bella, in high school. However, the bad part is that Edward is a vampire. He keeps telling Bella to stay away from him because he is dangerous, but she cannot. Because she is unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him, and Edward is to. Actually, so much that Edward is messing with fate. For example, when Bella was ready to go, she looked outside and it was snowing. Therefore, she got her jacket and headed out the door. She noticed that her dad was not home. She headed outside, got in the car, and was heading to school in about a minute. As Bella was driving, she noticed that there was ice on the road, and why she was not having trouble driving. Therefore, she got out of the car and noticed that her dad put on chains on her wheels so she would not loose control. She was so happy that her dad did that for her. She looked behind her and there was a mini van driving toward her. She looked at the driver and it was one of her guy friends. He waved at her when all of a sudden he started to loose control of the mini van. He did not have any chains on and he was driving full speed at the time so that didn't help at all. Then she looked across the street, about a mile away and there was Edward next to his car watching the whole thing. When the mini van was about a yard away from her, she felt two hands on her waist pushing her away from the car and away from where the car would have hit her. She was now on the ground. She looked up and there was Edward. Then she looked at the ruined car and saw a dent in the car and it had an imprint of somebody’s shoulder. She hit her head very hard. When she woke up, she was at the hospital. She got up and her head hurt.

How would you explain this to a 3rd grader?

The way I would explain this to a 3rd grader is kind of detailed but a little bit less. Just enough so the 3rd grader could understand.
Kind of like this “My books name is Twilight. It is about a vampire. But not a bad vampire, a good vampire. He does not drink human blood, he drinks animal blood. However, not cats and dogs, the vicious animals. Like lions and alligators. He is so nice that he actually saved the life of a girl that he really liked.

How does the information in the problem help you solve the problem?

Some information in the problem is
1. Edward is a vampire
2. There is a part of him that wants to drink Bella’s blood
3. Bella is in love with Edward
Some ways to help solve those problems is
1. She deal with Edward being a vampire and try to not be scared
2. She can stay away from him when he gets hungry
3. She can stay away from him so she will eventually forget about him

Can you prove it? How?

Yes, I can prove that Edward is a vampire.
I think Edward is a vampire because
1. When Bella was about to be in a car crash, Edward ran a mile to get from his car to her in just a split second using his super speed.
2. To prevent her from hitting the car Edward used his super strength to push the car away so it will not hit Bella.
3. Edward can smell blood.
4. Whenever it is sunny and nice outside Edward and his vampire family goes hunting for animals to such their blood.

What has already been proven?

1. Edward is a vampire
2. Bella and Edward are in love
3. Edward sometimes has the urge to drink the blood of people who make him mad.
4. When Edwards eyes are a light color that means he is in a good mood but when his eyes are a dark color he is in a bad mood.

What would this piece inspire you to read in the future?

I think Twilight has inspired me to read more long books because I am now more confident to read the book and to finish it on time. To read books that are a little bit harder and to read books that is as exciting as this one.

Describe a moment in your every day life where you saw a scientific phenomenon similar to your book.

As I was watching TV, one day, a commercial came on and it was about a new movie that is going to come out. That movie is called Twilight. The commercial was about when Bella is going to school and Edward had saved her from a bad car crash.

What if this took place in the 1900s?

I think if this book took place in the 1900s then it would be somewhat cool because, there would be old cars, old TVs old clothes, old everything, except the people.

What could have changed this piece?

I do not think anything could have changed this piece. Except for a few minor changes.
1. I think there should be more suspense in the book and less chatting.
2. When the chapters end, they should end with suspense so that when the readers finish a chapter they would want to read more.

Kat's Review #1
What my book is about is a 15 year old girl who's parents got divorced before she was even born and her mother died when she was in middle school and now she has to live with her Aunt Duffy who cares for her as if she was her own. As she got older she got a boyfriend named Ray and she absolutely loves him with all her heart, and she has had a best friend ever since kinder garden. But all of that changes when she has to be sent to LA to live with her dad, but the only time she has ever seen him is in his movies because he is a very big movie star. But the worst part of all is she hasn't seen her dad in 15 years and he expects her to just forgive him.
I care a lot about the situation she is in because if I was her, I would be begging my dad to use money and to send me back to Boston. Then if he says no then I would refuse to talk to him until I get my own house and move out of his mansion. But then I am overreacting. So another thing I would do is kind get used to him and the fact that he has billions of dollars and talk to him. So what I'd basically do is get used to the new life with my dad.
The way I would explain this story to a 3rd grader is to make it as detailed as possible, this is how I would say it"What my book is about is a 15 year old girl who's parents got divorced before she was even born and her mother died when she was in middle school and now she has to live with her Aunt Duffy who cares for her as if she was her own. As she got older she got a boyfriend named Ray and she absolutely loves him with all her heart, and she has had a best friend ever since kinder garden. But all of that changes when she has to be sent to L.A. to live with her dad, but the only time she has ever seen him is in his movies because he is a very big movie star. But the worst part of all is she hasn't seen her dad in 15 years and he expects her to just forgive him. That is all because I don't want to spoil the book.
The problem in the book is she has to live with her father and she has to leave everything she ever loved just to do it. Something I would do to solve the problem is I would try to deal with it and to just like try to have a little fun with my dad. Then maybe Ill try to forgive him a little bit but not completely.
The argument that she is trying to make is he hasn't seen her for 15 years and I think that is really bad for him to think that.I mean who would think that.
The info that is given in the problem is that her dad took her away from everything she ever loved. But the good info is that she is going to a new school and she already made a friend that she really likes (as a friend). The other good thing is her dad had a talk with her at dinner and they worked everything out so shes not that mad at him any more.
The way moving to a different state affects having a new friend, a new school, new stuff from her dad, and a new relationship with him is moving to California in the first place. Because if she didn't go to California then she would have done and gotten all these things
Well this event kind of happens to almost everybody. Except not everybody has a very famous father, but sometimes your parents do get divorced. Then a family member dies and you have to live with the other family member that you don't like, and sometimes they are either nice or mean but either way you have to live with them.
If this event never happened then its like if everybody would live happily ever after and nobodies feelings would get hurt. I think it would be really cool if that didn't happen then everybody would have a happy family.
What could have changed in this book is probably nothing. But I do think the author should make a three because that book is really good and exciting.I think if there was a next one it should be about how her life turned out except it should about when she gets married or something like that.
